Service at the University of Michigan

Below I showcase the various things that I am doing or have done at the Univerisyt of Michigan to support others.

Peer Counselor
(December 2021 – Present)

As a University of Michigan undergraduate student, I understand some of the challenges that students may encounter. I am trained by staff at CAPS to support students in a variety of areas: loneliness, adjustment/transition, learning about campus resources, managing stress, making friends, and more. My primary role is to listen, support, and provide guidance with resources.

Currently, I am undergoing training and am expected to start counseling in January 2022.

She's the First
(September 2019 – May 2022)

She's the First is a national non-profit organization that funds scholarships for girls in low-income countries so they can be the first in their families to graduate from secondary school. Our independent campus chapter hosts various fundraising events each semester to support girls in countries across the world. We also have biweekly informational sessions and social events for our members to interact and learn more about global issues women face that can be combatted through education.

I started as a general member, then became VP of the Global Awareness Program the following year, and am now co-president.

Peer Writing Consultant
(December 2021 – Present)

I was recently accepted to become a Peer Writing Consultant at the University of Michigan. The Sweetland Peer Writing Consultant Program provides consultants an opportunity to support fellow undergraduate peers with their writing.

Since I was accepted, during the Winter Term (January 2022 - April 2022), I will be taking the course, WRITING 300: Seminar in Peer Writing Consultation. In this course, I will be trained to become theoretically informed and a well-practiced peer writer.

Following this course, I will be taking a follow-up in the Fall of 2022 and will begin consulting.

FemForward
(October 2020 – May 2022)

FemForward is a coalition I helped found in August 2020 to provide opportunities for gender and health equity-centered organizations at and around the University of Michigan. My role as VP of Internal Strategies is to support over 14 student organizations to collaborate and advocate for gender and health equity. I support ongoing communications between student-led organizations and the executive board and look for potential collaborations between different student organizations.
